This is a nice basic gardening book, I guess I did not really learn much new from it but as a general reference book it is worthwhile. I had recently moved to the mountains of Idaho from Portland, Oregon, and I was looking for info on high-altitude gardening. The photographs are very nice and numerous.

Fantastic guide for the Rocky Mountain gardener. Diana Maranhao appears to have that great blend of expertise gained through experience with the skill of an experienced writer. A must buy for both the beginner and the advanced Rocky Mountain gardener.

A good resource for gardening. The pruning section is very informative and detailed. The vegetable section is very comprehensive. You will surely be successful if following all the info in this book.

Pretty helpful but has a few flaws which is why I took away a star. The first part is general gardening information slanted towards this region. The second part is individual plant profiles with helpful information like when to plant, days to maturity, good companion plants, varieties that do well with our short growing season and little helpful tips about each plant. One of the flaws is that occasionally the book will give unclear info on just when to plant outdoors when starting from seeds indoors. It will say to start seeds indoors x weeks ahead of when you intend to transplant them outdoors but doesn't tell you when exactly when that is. That's just on a few plants though. Overall, it's been quite helpful in helping me plan for my first garden this Spring.

Great info and plan to put to good use.
