This is a beautiful visual of what Nantucket is all about. You see photos of lush gardens as well as the inside of many cottages that I have walked past many times. It is a wonderful coffee table book to enjoy over and over again.
There are 1200 small homes and cottages on Nantucket. This book features a diverse array of them. Each home gets several colorful pages devoted to it with an exterior image, garden views and interior rooms. Some of the homes are quite antique. Sprinkled throughout the book are tips such as tips on planning a cottage garden, clutter-free decorating and renovating Nantucket style. Many of the homes have picturesque names and the different towns in Nantucket are listed.The author lives on the island and has written a column for the Nantucket newspaper. If you enjoy small cottages and like to see how they can be decorated, or love the island of Nantucket, you should enjoy this book. I was glad no large, McMansions were included. These are the authentic small homes native to the island. They seemed to have many of their original features. I found this book a delight.
Beautiful Photographic Journey through Nantucket's cottages and their lovely gardens. Almost as good as a home and garden tour without having to fly/ferry to the Island. Crisp photographs along with information on decorating and gardening. Great coffee table book.
Leslie Linsley "knows" Nantucket! This is a stunningly beautiful book that is loaded with wonderful photographs of Nantucket homes. I have never visited Nantucket, but through the many books written by Ms. Linsley, I feel as if I have been there and done that! A great addition to my "Destination/Travel" Library and a delight to leave on the coffee table for guests to peruse.
Beautiful book of homes and gardens on Nantucket. Since I cannot go there, this is the next best thing. Lots of great pictures.
So much fun to read and the pictures are very good. It makes me want to live on Nantucket.
I like it only because I love Nantucket. It is not much different that other books I have on Nantucket. Many of the interiors are disappointing resorting in "cutesy" decorating. Somewhat disappointing
It's fine but we wish it showed some larger houses too.
