Before publication of Medals of Korea, there was no comprehensive guide/reference book on this subject. I am pleased that Patrick O'Donnell has stepped forward to fill that void. His study of Korean medals is exhaustive, all areas are covered: military, religious, political, sports. 163 pages. Each medal is pictured, described and sized, with English translation of the medal's inscription. That in itself is quite an accomplishment. The appendix includes a list and translation of Sino-Korean characters, Korean characters, Rulers of Korea, a bibliography and a price guide.O'Donnell's work is now, and will likely remain, the standard reference work on the medals of Korea. The work is an important part of Koreanhistory, and Mr. O'Donnell is to be commended for what was mostly certainly a Herculean task of providing it to us.
Good catalog but photo sharpness is not good.
