I made a quilt using this method and I was amazed at how accurate the piecing turned out. The points are fabulous and consistently meet with no blunt tips; I have never had this much success with other techniques. If you follow the instructions step by step you will not be disappointed in the result! If you like miniatures but have struggled with seam accuracy, try this method...it really works.
After several years of paper-piecing I found this method for miniatures fast and accurate. I made my first one of silk tie fabric and it worked beautifully. Highly recommend using the small iron. When removing the paper I found that scoring the seams with a pin helped loosen the paper. Using small dots of glue during construction facilitated removal too. The instructions are very clear and when followed, produce a miniature to be proud of. Absolutely loved the book and am planning further projects.
I purchased this book for kindle and read it on my computer as I thought it would be easier to see the diagrams that way. It was. And I must say that I have never seen my quilting SO exact, SO perfect. I want to thank the author for sharing her technique. But I have three complaints with the book: 2 minor and 1 major.(1) I really needed a bit more explanation regarding the methodology. A few more pictures would really have helped. But, in the end, I was successful, so I will have to say that the explanation was adequate, just difficult.(2) The book illustrates the concept for making quilts in this fashion by detailing one pattern and then explaining how to do it for other patterns. The example for learning used triangles. Since it is an easier method when doing squares, why wasn't that the one shown first and with more detail. Later in the book, the triangle design would have been a good alternative pattern.(3) Now, it what I really came here to complain about. Although there are references to using pattern templates which are to be supplied by the book, they were missing in the Kindle version. I read and reread the book from cover to cover--never found them. Alas, I made my own from graph paper, but I really would have liked to have them. I did try to contact the author about this on her website but have not gotten a response yet.If I have missed the section with templates, someone please correct me so I can give this book the five stars it truly deserves.
I have never been a fan of paper piecing, but I love this book! A single foundation paper is used to make each miniature quilt. If you want a larger quilt, you can make several perfectly pieced miniatures and put them together as blocks with sashing added.I have made a quilt from one of the patterns in this book. I found the directions to be very clear and easy to follow. Just do what Terrie says and everyone will be amazed at how perfect your quilt will be.
There are lots of quilts in this book plus a few totes and I don't think that there is one quilt that I don't like. One of the quilts which I plan to make first is a four star quilt and it is shown in 4 different color schemes. I just got this book last week and am delighted with my purchase.
I have piecing miniatures for some time and have found this method much easier and refreshing! The points and seams come out perfectly! My first project was the quilt pattern on the cover. It was slow going at first until I got the hang of it, and then it came together very quickly at the end. It sure beats trying to hold on to tiny little pieced blocks and sewing them together so that the seams and points all meet! Thanks to the author, and I'm looking forward to more of the same types of publications!
This is an excellent book for making miniature quilts. It includes the paper piecing patterns and gives simple to understand directions. All of the diagrams made this an easy book to follow. Many thanks........
A really great book for making miniatured quilts perfectly and in a short time - usually a day. Some directions have to be read several times before they are clear (watching the author on The Quilt Show helped) Have made three minatures so far and each one is perfect and I have been known to make sewing mistakes! Would definitly recommend.
