I got this book for my Operating Systems class. Sometimes it is hard to read because of the verbage used but it is a textbook. I do think there is good information that can be used in the future. I wish there was just a way to make it liven up a little bit to make it easier to keep focused.
Very little different from 6th edition, just a scam to make more money. Book is written ok, but chapter questions are not in book often, or content is in different chapter. I would recommend teachers find a better alternative to this terrible book.
This is one of the few text books I enjoyed from a long list of related computer science books I have read for college. I would not recommend this as an intro to computers for the casual reader. The text goes into great detail about the many aspects of an operating system by providing abstract concepts and exact algorithms. The book helps explain what goes on behind the scenes of the hardware and the system and helped me understand some of the concepts of OSes that seem mysterious. If you have a passion for computers or need a good supplemental text for a class, then I would highly recommend this. If you are a novice computer user looking to learn more about computer in general, then I would start with something else.
Very useful and easy to understand. After passing my class in college, I liked it so much that I decided not to sell it back!
This book is the same one my college wants me to have but with a much lower price.
good book
