I enjoyed reading my first Millie Holland book. It was a very fast read. I can identify with the main character living alone with cats. Millie seems to be a sharp woman with a quick mind. She picks up on emotions and can think out of the box. Will look forward to another adventure with Millie.
Millie and her family of cats is charming. Millie, however, is no fool and promotes the idea that older folks can and do use the internet and devices connected to the internet well. The basic tool Millie uses is her ability to reason. It is interesting to find her irritation with age bias.
I have read the full series staring Millie. This one is fast paced with both humor and ends with the edge of your seat fear. Millie is thorough and very competent. Once I start reading, I did not put it down until I was finished. Good read. I'm looking forward to the next one.
I cant tell you how much i truly enjoy all of your books. It would be nice if some of the cats could help out with the solving of the murders. That would be great. Anyone that loves cats will love your books. Keep up the good work.
I enjoyed this cozy mystery. Most cozy mysteries are not even trying to be great literature. They are good stories, with likeable characters and some sort of device to appeal to a select audience, (for example cat or dog lovers, fans of cooking or baking, quilting enthusiasts, etc.).Cat in the Act is just such a book. A pleasant story involving a lady who has several cats and a mystery to solve. I have particularly enjoyed the development of the friendship and mystery-solving partnership between Millie Holland and the police detective. A good read for a stay-at-home day with an afghan and a cat to curl up with.
I mean absolutely no disrespect, but after reading a heavy book I like to 'cleanse my pallet' (brain) with something light and uncomplicated....and I love cats anyway, so its a perfect marraige. It was a fun, and cute and enjoyable read. I especially enjoy the personalities of the cats. Those of you who have not lived with cats for 60+ years will not understand, but they all have their own personality and I love the writers who know that and put the personalities in the story line. It's a fun, uncomplicated, light read, and that is very good sometimes, dont you think? Thank you for writing this book, I am collecting all of your series.
MILLIE & HER CAT FAMILY VIGGO, NEWMAN (HE HAS BLUE EYES), GRANT (HE'S DEBONAIR), HARLOW (SHE GOES FOR SENSUAL) & CORALINE (WHO'D GIVE ANYTHING TO GO BACK TO HER TRASH CANS) SOLVE ANOTHER MURDER. HER YOUNG DETECTIVE FRIEND DOESN'T REALLY WANT HER HELP, BUT SHE COMES UP WITH SUCH GOOD EVIDENCE. THIS IS A QUICK, FUN READ.
Really enjoyed this book. Just the right length. The number of characters isn't excessively high (which makes any story hard to follow). Down to earth characters. Millie, the leading character, and her friend Jonathan, the detective, are easy to identify with and to like. A light, pleasant, enjoyable read! I will read more of this author's books.
