Through all the hub-bub of trying to pull together my wedding, and make it memorable and beautiful, I was really struggling. A friend told me about Dayna Reid and her new Do It Yourself Ceremony book, and WOW, what a difference! The book is so easy to understand and the way she itemizes all the different aspects of the wedding process, I don't know if I would have been able to really pull it off had it now been for this book. IT IS AMAZING!!! I highly recommend this book for brides to be everywhere, whether you are getting married this year, or its not even for a few years... it is great tool to put your own signature and flair on what should be THE most important day of your life!! I am going to be buying a bunch of them as gifts for some of my single friends as well as the ones that are planning to take the plunge soon. AWESOME AWESOME !!! 5 Stars!!!

Excellent reference material for planning a wedding. I'm using this along with the guidebook to plan my upcoming wedding. I'm able to work with our wedding officiant and plan out each aspect of our wedding and have gotten some great ideas of what material we want included in our ceremony.
Do-It-Yourself Wedding Ceremony by Dayna Reid is an excellent resource for wedding planning. This book features so many different examples and ideas relating to vows, ceremonies, and other wedding traditions. The great thing about this book is that it is not merely a collection of vows, but a structured guidebook. A bride could use this book to plan everything that is said during the ceremony, from the officiant’s words to the bride and groom’s vows, as well as other blessings or pronouncements. Many of the vows are traditional, but Reid also includes nontraditional ones, such as lovely quotes from movies and songs.I really enjoyed reading about different kinds of wedding ceremonies (such as sand, butterfly release, breaking glass, and fisherman’s knot); this book introduced me to many wonderful ceremony ideas I had never heard of. Do-It-Yourself Wedding Ceremony definitely has something for everyone, including vows that incorporate children and parents, as well as vows for blended families. The book also includes information about selecting an officiant and getting a marriage certificate, which is helpful for those unfamiliar with the process. I like how the end of the book has a worksheet to plan your ceremony, where brides can write what they choose for different parts of the ceremony (such as the exhanging of rings, pronouncement of marriage, etc.); the worksheet is a very handy organizational tool. I also thought it was nice how Reid included a list of songs for the ceremony. Do-It-Yourself Wedding Ceremony is packed with so many different detailed ideas, and would be a great tool for a bride-to-be, wedding planner, or anyone planning the wedding of their dreams.I received a copy from the author in exchange for an honest review.
In the interest of disclosure, the Author provided a free copy for my review.As an Ordained Minister, I'm often looking for reference and such for various functions. Performing weddings is one function that's rather daunting and is very specific to each couple. Every couple has not only certain expectations of what their ceremony will be, but may also require something unique. Perhaps they're different faiths, or maybe(in the modern age) same sex, biracial. There could be any number of issues, and so I was hoping to find a reference book that would address itself to whatever I might encounter. As one might assume, I did not hold high hopes that I would find any kind of publication that would provide me what I wanted.I was wrong.This book has not failed yet to meet my expectations, and in many cases, exceeded them. As I was going through the book, I had specific thoughts I needed information on, and I found the answers quite readily. As I delved into the book further, I found that every curiosity that popped into my head was somewhere in the book. Looking for readings It's in there. Looking for song suggestions? It's in there. How does the processional work? It's in there.I can go on, but the basic information you need to know is this: If you're officiating a wedding, planning a wedding, or getting married, get this book. To this writing, I have yet to not find what I wanted to know. You won't be disappointed. Rev. Reid has taken her many years of experience and shared it in this book. This is one purchase that you will be thoroughly satisfied with.
