so i bought the Ugly's electrical reference book as well.. and it was good.. trouble is it contains most of what is in this motors book.. so i have to say that while both books are good, both aren't necessary.. if you want mostly electrical buy the Ugly's electrical.. if you want just motors.. well actually i would recommend another book entirely.. this is too thin and so buy a good motors book.. sorry Ugly's cause i know you're the best electrical reference pocket type handbook.. but this one.. is just too thin on motors.. and.. if you're a technician working with motors a lot.. learn to check amp loads every time you touch the "darn" motor..
I am an electrical training instructor for a nuclear facility. This book is extremely helpful when developing lesson plans. I spent over 40 years working with my tools before becoming a teacher. And have a copy of several of the ugly's books in the tool box. A good quick accurate reference for electricians.
Great reference book, is a small package so it's easy to carry and use when needed. Tons of information at your fingertips when needing to figure out a motor problem or computation for installation. Very Handy.
This is a great book to read to learn maintenance. My husband got it to study for a maintenance test to get into maintenance. The book was in great condition, and a well used learning instrument. Thanks for the great book.
I guess I forgot to look at the size of the book. It could not hold all the reference info I had hoped it would have.There are 2008 NEMA protection classes, but not IP numbers.I also did not expect so many pages of conversion tables in this age of computers. Hardly anyone does conversions in the field now. The space could have been used for more technical info, or perhaps I misjudged the level for which the book was written.
In my opinion, every bit as good as Ugly's Electrical References. Ugly's Electric Motors and Controls is a very handy little book. Good for reference, or if you just need to "brush-up" or refresh your knowledge of motors and controls. I am very happy with this purchase.
This little electrical book is the first book that I buy for all my employees. A definite must have in tour toolbox. I have all my electrical technicians highlight the appropriate info for an even quicker reference.
Not nearly as much motor information as expected. No two speed motor references for example. Should just get the regular ugly's reference.
